PC maintenance tips
When was the last time you looked inside your computer?
In fact, when was the last time you even looked under your desk? If it's been a while I guarantee you've got a load of dust built up around the fan. Heating is the number one factor that will decrease the life span of your system. If your fan isn't working efficiently you can be greatly affecting the performance and longevity of your system, not to mention it has probably become quite noisy.
Don't be scared. Unplug the power at the wall then get down there, untangle the mess of wires taking care to note what goes where. In most cases leads will only fit into one particular palce. Even the keyboard and mouse leads, lathough they may look very similar are nearly always colour codes so you just put the purple one where theres a purple slot and the green one where, you guessed it, the green one goes. Now, unplug it all and at least give the fan a good brush with a new, clean paint brush.
I also like to keep some kind of moisture inhibitor next to the tower and have the tower raised. Sit it on something that will keep it it an inch or 2 off the floor.
Now to take it the next step open up the chassis and with a vacuum in one hand and the paint brush in the other go ahead and carefully brush away all the dust from inside. You'd be surprised just how dirty it can get in there. Be very careful not to bump anything our of it's place. All the while being very careful.
with the choices! Thankyou! You've pointed me in the right direction. My computer is again running like lightning!"
